How to Prepare for Family Sync 101

The biggest achievements using FamilySync instead of TreeSync is that a client no longer has to sever the ties. It's because that Ancestry tree can be connected to many Family Tree Maker Trees, so breaking the old link to move a tree to a new device like a laptop or desktop is no longer required.
The need for Family Sync arises when more than one device uses the Family Tree Maker software. For eg, if a user has a daughter and he / she needs his / her daughter to use the Family Tree Maker on another device, there is no need to re-upload and update the FTM tree from a single computer if it is already connected to an Ancestry tree. This will be a hectic, time-consuming operation and requires breaking the old link.
In fact, any update to an Ancestry tree, whether from your desktop or mobile device, would synchronize with your Family Tree Creator tree using Family Sync instead of TreeSync.
For example, if a user installs the 2017 Family Tree Maker on a new device, he / she might think about breaking the old link and downloading a new copy to your new computer. It is best not to do that.
Don't worry about breaking this link to switch your tree to a new device. Alternatively, you can make a backup on the old computer and transfer it on a USB flash drive to the new computer and restore it.
The right way to do this is to copy and restore a backup (.ftmb file) with a flash drive to the other device. Both copies will be related to the same tree of Ancestry.
Basically, both the tree will be connected to the same tree ancestor and you can save a lot of time by uploading and saving the data.
That's what FamilySync is about. Various phones. One tree of ancestors.
